Contested Divorce
Most spouses will reach their breaking point in a marriage and ask for a divorce. There are different reasons for couples to get a divorce such as infidelity and financial problems. There is also the possibility of one spouse in the marriage of not wanting a divorce. If your spouse does not want a divorce, then this could lead to a contested divorce.
One person in the marriage has to file a petition when getting a divorce. The other person in the marriage will be served with divorce papers by sheriff or mail which is required by law. When a person is served divorce papers, this is the time to contest the divorce. Examples of what can be contested are child support, alimony and assets. This process will start a contested divorce.
